Come along with Danish stylist, food and lifestyle photographer Signe Bay and Danish award winning cookbook writer, publisher and photographer Sif Orellana on a four-day intimate and intense food & travel photography and -styling retreat in the midst of ancient Rome, April 14th - 18th 2016.

During the retreat we will stay in a huge, cozy and authentic apartment in the quiet part of Trastevere, the old, picturesque area in the very heart of Rome. The magical atmosphere and charm of the ‘belle époque’ is real in this place - from the antique tiles on the floors, the red velvet on the beds to the finest art deco interior.

With cold spumante in the glasses the retreat will kick off with a ‘Meet & Greet’ to get to know one another. We will then serve you a festive dinner made by our Italian gourmet cook and celebrate our first evening together.

The next morning we will tell you about our approach to food & travel photography and styling, and then dive right in to some hands-on workshopping. One element of the workshop that day is to stroll through our neighborhood to the beautiful food court at Campo de’ Fiori to shoot the greenest vegetables and all the beautiful fruit, then select some fresh fruits and berries to bring home and make the loveliest Italian pastries of – to style and shoot and then savor together with a nice cup of tea later in the afternoon.

Another day of the retreat will consist of an excursion to the outskirts of the center of Rome, to an old rustic villa situated in the midst of fields of greenery and from where we will prepare a big feast together on long wooden tables; we might make some homemade ravioli with fresh spinach & ricotta, roast a veal on an open fire, and bake some lovely galettes with the very first wild strawberries, set the long tables and sit down and enjoy the lunch together, talking, laughing and learning.

We will invite you out for breakfast an early morning and afterwards to explore Rome’s biggest flea market, where we will introduce you to the some of the old, charming stands with props and antique linen. We will then stroll around the streets of Trastevere, finding the hidden gems, learning about street photography, and have a long three course lunch at one of our favorite trattorias - just to mention a few of the many activities vi have planned for you.

During our four days together, you will get new tools and guidance to help improve your photography and styling, regardless of your skill level. We will work on our DSLR, but for those interested, and as an extra feature, we will guide you through successful shooting and editing on iPhones as well, and talk about how to work successfully on the social media arena.

Through hands-on photo assignments across four days, you will learn about our workflow and our process from how we conceive a shot and execute. We will teach you how to tell enchanting food stories, that really move and appeal to your audience. We will share our stories and experiences transitioning from passionate amateurs to passionate professionals, and through the entire four days we will talk together and share ideas and projects for the future.

Our main goals for the four days are to give each participant a magnificent experience of both workshops, sensing the city, savoring good food made from the freshest produce and to give her/him a clearer idea of not only how to style and shoot, but also how to find her/his own voice within photography and styling.

This course is aimed at anyone interested in food- and lifestyle photography - from the amateur bloggers to those looking to break into the industry on a professional basis, or even those who just love posting images of gorgeous food that they eat. Come and join us for an incredibly yummy and informative retreat in the most charming atmosphere you can dream of. We can’t wait to take you on this fairytale!

You will need to bring your camera - whatever you normally shoot food with is best. Bring also your laptop.

Space is limited to 10 people.
